City Municipality of Pantelej is a young city municipality, founded after the local election, in September 2004. The representative body of the City Municipality of Pantelej, the Municipal Assembly, was constituted on July 11th, 2008. The City Municipality of Pantelej  was registered in Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia on November 18th, 2004. In accordance with its jurisdction, the City Municipality of Pantelej started its activities immediately after its registration. During the official bodies' establishment process, the City Municipality of Pantelej had introduced a new, modern organisational structure of the municipal services, in accordance with the new functions which are to be performed by a modern municipality in the local community. The organisational structure of the municipality is based on EU model, according to which the local self-government is not percieved only as an administrative service provider for the local comminity, but also as a partner which actively and efficiently participates  in resolving all local community issues and the improvement of the quality of life in all segments. In accordinace with the Local economic development plan, the support for small and medium enterprises  is being intensified in order to change social and economic image of the region.

The territory of the Municipality consists of 4 urban area settlements and 12 villages: Gornja Vrezina, Gornji Matejevac, Donji Matejevac, Kamenica, brenica, Cerje, Knez selo, Malca, Pasjaca, oreovac, Jasenovic, Vrelo.

 

Karta GO PantelejIn addition to the part of the urban area, the City Municipality of Pantelej covers the territory of Cerje and Kamenicki Vis in the west, up to the villages Pasjaca and Oreovac in the east. Green slopes of the hilly area of the Svrljig Mountains together with the beauties of the underground labyrinth of the Cerje Cave, represent the natural riches of the Municipality.

The CM Pantelej is  mainly rural municipality the territory of which includes the villages where agriculture is traditionally predominant in economy and represents the development potential which can be turned into dominant economic branch with adequate programmes' assistance. 

Characteristics

The rural area od the municipality is known for its healthy and preserved environment. This advantage is suitable for the development of rural tourism based on healthy food and national cuisine. The programmes of rural tourism development include the protection and renewal of the houses built in traditional manner. The touristic offer includes the cultural heritage - presentation of folklore dance, customs and the traditional hand-made products.
